The 2 Pins Company has now been closed and the assets of the Company – the community field, 2 portacabins (containing the toilet block, storage and kitchen) and marquees – have been transferred to Pinwherry and Pinmore Community Development Trust (PPCDT).
The 2 Pins Company was originally set up to manage the 2 Pins field site, run craft fairs etc to raise funds with the ultimate aim of providing a brand new community centre on the field itself. However, this proved impossible to gain the required external funding. Since then, the community has instructed PPCDT to progress with the community asset transfer from South Ayrshire Council of the former Pinwherry Primary School, in order to convert the building into a community facility. To this end, as PPCDT has taken over the development of this project, the 2 Pins Company is now surplus to requirements and has been closed.
PPCDT will be opening the community field to the public in the spring, with a new disabled picnic table and local information boards for visitors and tourists. The field will still be used for community events including craft fairs, BBQs etc.
