New legislation comes into force Monday 20th October 2014
The Scottish Parliament has passed legislation that will require ALL retailers (food and non-food) to charge a minimum of 5p for each new single-use carrier bag (including paper, those made from some plant based materials and plastic), from 20th October 2014.
What does it mean for you?
From 20 October single use carrier bags cannot be given away free. All retailers in Scotland will have to charge a minimum of 5p for every new single use carrier bag they give customers.
If you employ 10 or more full time equivalent staff you will have to keep records relating to the amount of money received and number of bags you supply.
