The Ballantrae Smugglers’ Festival was created to support local businesses, encourage tourism and provide a unique event for locals, surrounding communities and visitors.  Building on the success of last year’s event we have plans for this year’s event (18-23 August 2014) to be bigger and better!

Here is an outline programme for the 6 day Festival.
More details can be found on our website www.ballantrae.org.uk/smugglers.

While we hope you will attend some of the events during the week we would be delighted to have people from surrounding communities involved in other ways.  For example the children of Colmonell Primary School have already produced posters and wall boards, they have made smuggler scarecrows and, along with the children from Ballantrae Primary School rehearsed smuggling songs (which they will sing on the Friday evening) and written their own Childrens’ Smuggling Storybook which will be launched at the festival.

Some people from surrounding communities have already said they want to take a craft stall at our Village Fayre or help out on the Saturday.   The Saturday will be a big day for us.  Last year we concentrated our efforts around the village hall.  This year we are spreading the day’s event across the whole village.  So we need stewards, programme sellers, street entertainers, and people to help us run activities.

If you would like to help in some way or know someone who does then please contact Andy on andy.mcalpine@btinternet.com as soon as possible.

We hope to see you at the Festival!
